Winter Blues

With all this chilly weather we've been having, I'm a tad bit gloomy and longing for some warmer days. Although I'm a native Ohioan, I am fully acclimated to this Central Texas weather and WE Texans are not accustomed to this drop in temperature! Seven or more consecutive cold days is considered a winter storm! I miss seeing the color green.  I cannot wait until things start growing again and I can go outside and get my full dose of vitamin D! But I'm just going to grin and grit my teeth and get through these wintry days. Until the sunshine touches my freckles once more, I will just enjoy these happy outdoor images, I hope you guys like them too!

Until next time Loves!

RIP Titi Branch of Miss Jessie's

My heartfelt condolences are being sent to the Miss Jessie's family. Titi Branch one of the founders of the Miss Jessie's hair care line has died. She was a leader in the natural hair care industry and she along with her sister created the Miss Jessie's line which paved the way for many women of color myself included with curly/coily textured hair to embrace their natural manes. Its being reported that she may have committed suicide and this time of year, some people with severe depression may go to extreme measures to combat these feelings.  If you are or anyone you know are battling depression and are having suicidal thoughts please, do not hesitate and call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. Am I my sister's keeper? Yes, I am!

Steals n Deals

I purchased this brand new Honeywell Enviracaire air purifier for $15 today, this size normally retails between $120-160.  I purchased it from a local retailer and its brand spanking new!  An air purifier is perfect for an allergy sufferer like myself, they remove dust, mold spores, pet dander, pollen and any other contaminants in the air.  I was on the hunt for an air purifier after staying at a hotel this summer that utilized one in the room. I slept like a baby, no dry coughs  or sneezing all night!  I am so ecstatic with my purchase...you guys are missing my happy dance!

Until next time Loves!

Good night

Had a great day, now it's time to wind down with a glass of Pinot Grigio!

Until next time Loves!

MIA! / HOW DOES MY GARDEN GROW? (Mega Post)

Sorry Loves, I know I have been MIA but my life was a little crazy the last couple of weeks.  I bought a vehicle to help with my growing business, talk about a tiresome endeavor but I refuse to purchase something I didn't want and go over my set budget!  I will fill you all in with the details later on in the week. Unfortunately,  a family member died last week so we are all coping with the loss.  So you all will still see my posts this week, I just wanted to explain my inconsistency for the last couple of weeks.

HOW DOES MY GARDEN GROW?

I just wanted to post an update showing how I filled all the pots I purchased.  I have been so pleased with the look of my flower bed, garden and patio.  The best part of the whole project is the price!  I purchased about 85% of my flowers from Lowe's and they were on the quick sale rack.  What makes the deal even sweeter was I led there by a wonderful sales associate who I asked for help in purchasing flowers that can withstand this Texas sun.  She recommended several flowers and gave me insight into how they grow.  I planted them and lo and behold it rained over several days!!!  Everything is growing and lush and we have had some wonderful tomatoes to eat.  I am looking forward to planting some kale and arugula to assist me in my juicing efforts and I recently spotted some blueberries in the nursery that I want to try and grow.  Who knew I'm a country girl at heart!

My patio is still my favorite place to be.  I work out there on my laptop in the mornings before it gets too hot and I recently added a solar chandelier and more string lights under the pergola.  It is such a romantic sight at night I just wish it was a tad bit cooler.

My garden is still doing extremely well and right now I am just trying to keep up with the food that is ready to be picked and use it, freeze it or give it away.  I just can not for the life of me, throw food away!

Between my staging jobs, blog and projects around the house I am always busy, but for the first time ever in my adult life I can say I am happy, passionate and content with what I do!  There is no better feeling than truly loving what you do.  Until next time Loves!

Year of the Horse

Giddy up lovelies its the year of the horse.  People born under the sign of the horse are known to be authoritative and have no problems taking leadership roles.  So saddle up and put some equestrian style in your home and wardrobe!

Until next time!

Mmm...Mmm...Monday!

I hope you all had a good and restful weekend.  I spent the better part of my weekend tending my plants.  I don't have a green thumb or deep pockets to keep replacing plants that die an untimely death while under my care.  Fortunately for me, Home Depot has a good return policy so my Fiddle fig tree has been returned and I'm trying once again to grow one.  While at Home Depot I noticed they had a lot fruit trees out and was wondering how well the trees would fare in this Texas weather.  After speaking with the associate in the garden center I was told the trees could grow with no problem.  But in order for them to produce fruit a lot of work and effort would have to be put into their care in the first year.  So there will be no planting of a fruit tree in my yard.  But alas!  I have options!!! Wait for it...a Meyer lemon tree!  From what I have read, they grow relatively easy inside or outdoors.  The lemons are said to produce fruit that is sweet and less tart than the regular supermarket varieties.  The trees can grow anywhere from 6-12ft high and produce fruit all year.  Winter is when the tree yields the most fruit and my favorite tidbit I found out about the Meyer lemon tree is...it grows in Texas!  So wish me luck!  I'm on the hunt for a Meyer lemon tree they have been sold out locally but when I purchase one I will let you all know.  Until next time.
